PwC Jamaica is pleased to present its annual International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Seminar, entitled PwCs IFRS - In Focus, 2017.

Now in its 10th year, this PwC Jamaica event is geared towards providing you with guidance on new standards, amendments to existing standards, the latest thinking of the standard setters and insights on standards currently under development. Held on Tuesday, 26 September 2017, this event is not to be missed!

We are pleased to announce that our lead presenter for the 2017 event will be Tony de Bell, a member of PwC Global IFRS Leadership Team in London. Tony has been a board member of the IFRS Interpretations Committee (IC) since 2013. Tony is no stranger to Jamaica having led our seminar for several years prior to taking a break to concentrate on his work at the IC. Tony works with a number of multinational clients in the communications and technology sector and manufacturing sectors and supports PwC’s clients and engagement teams around the world in connection with transition to IFRS 15. He also speaks and writes regularly on IFRS topics and leads the PwC team liaising with the IASB’s revenue recognition, disclosure and conceptual framework project teams.

We are also pleased to announce that another of our network’s key IFRS specialists, Sandra Thompson, leader of the Global IFRS team on financial instruments, will be presenting. Sandra specialises in the financial services sector including banks, building societies and asset managers, and in financial instruments (IAS 32/39 and IFRS 9) and related consolidation issues. She also advises on corporate treasury related issues including hedge accounting, debt restructurings, financing arrangements and complex structured transactions. Sandra is a regular speaker at conferences including PwC’s ‘Meet the Experts’ and the IAS Foundation update conference as well as these PwC global technical training sessions. She also maintains close links with the International Accounting Standard Board (IASB) and various banking regulators.

On the day, both Tony and Sandra will be supported by the PwC Jamaica team, led by Gail Moore, PwC Jamaica’s IFRS lead.

Some of the standards being covered include: IFRS 17, Insurance Contracts | IFRS 9, Financial Instruments | IFRS 15, Revenue from contracts with customers | IFRS 16, Leases | Annual Improvements.
